As an almost forgotten fruit variety, Quitte today celebrates a triumphant return to top gastronomy thanks to its bewitching, multi-layered flavor. On old scattered orchards in the Lower Rhine and the Münsterland some old stands have survived. The fruits of these up to 60-year-old trees - Konstantinopel apple quince and some Portuguese pear quince - are today more intense than ever.
